Self-Referral Telephone Listening Service for pupils aged 14-18 years
The Aberdeenshire school counselling telephone listening service is now live. The service is for Aberdeenshire school pupils aged 14+ . Any young person who is struggling with their emotional wellbeing can access the service. I attach further information which can be shared with young people.
The service is currently available for a couple of hours each day Monday to Friday during term time, and availability will increase during school holidays. Booking can be accessed via this link Listening Service. The young person can choose a day and appointment time that suits them. They will be asked to enter their name, school and contact details. The counsellor will then call them at the agreed time. Appointments can be booked up to 7 days in advance and cancelled up to an hour before the appointment.
The service is confidential so data on who calls the service will not be passed back to schools. However, the Counsellor is aware of the young person’s name and school in order that Child Protection protocols can be followed where necessary. The Counsellor will also contact the DHT Pastoral Care if the young person asks for something to be passed onto their school.
Your support in sharing this information with colleagues and raising awareness amongst our young people aged 14+ would be greatly appreciated.

Family Nurture Leaflets – As part of our ongoing focus on nurturing approaches, the Educational Psychology Service has developed leaflets on key topics which contain tips and advice for parents and carers. They will also be a helpful resource for schools and multi-agency partners in their work with families.
